Yew Tree Cottage is a well-established residential care home on the outskirts of Chard, that is owned, run and managed by husband and wife team, Graham and Sarah Ambridge RN for the past 19 years. Supported by their team of long-standing, experienced and dedicated staff.
We have consistently achieved a Good CQC Rating - please view our latest CQC report (www.cqc.org.uk). 5 * food hygiene, Health and Safety and Fire inspections and meet and exceed all the staff training requirements.
The Home is set in one and a half acres of magnificent accessible gardens with an abundance of wildlife and various ponds. We have three terriers, Phoebe, Nellie and Florence, who come in daily. We also have visiting horses!
The house itself is unique in its homely county cottage layout. All the bedrooms are ensuite, with baths and showers and the bedrooms are as individual as the residents who occupy them! We have three reception rooms plus we have a self-contained annex for a person or couple who wish to have an element of independent living with the support of 24hr staff on hand.
We endeavour to support our residents to do as much or as little as as they choose but positively encourage them to maintain their independence, mentally and physically.
Our team provide individual, holistic care to each resident. Care needs, physically, spiritually and psychologically are ascertained prior to admission through thorough assessments and are constantly reviewed as and when required.
The Home is managed by Sarah, a registered nurse since 1987, who was an NHS clinical nurse specialist, specialising in care of the elderly, dementia, holistic medicine and pharmacology. She is also a teacher and assessor in clinical practice, which enables us to train trainee nurse associate students along with work experience students from the local schools.
We are a unique care home, providing highly skilled professional care in a comfortable, non institutionalised environment.
One of our great passions is to provide delicious home-cooked nutritious meals from either home grown produce of locally sourced ingredients. We are able to cater to every palate, nutritional and chosen choices.
